I have no shame in admitting that I have a ridiculous nerd crush on Liara T’Soni. That said, in my rush to soak in all that was Mass Effect 2, combined with her surly disposition in the game, I wasn’t the most faithful undead boyfriend in the universe. After accidentally sleeping with Kelly (I thought it was just dinner, in my room!), I spread the love and ended my game in an ultimately unsatisfying relationship with Tali. Don’t get me wrong, everything felt fine up until I discovered an upturned picture frame in my quarters. Upon internet investigation I found that was a picture of your old love that was put face down after you begin a new relationship. Everything soured from that point on.

Add to the list the popular Mass Effect: Redemption comic strip, where Liara goes to extreme measures to reclaim Shepard’s body from the Shadow Broker, and my guilt grew unbearable. Liara was my one and only, and now I have the opportunity to right my previous wrongs.

Yes, read the last line in BioWare’s DLC summary again. We’ll have the opportunity to continue that relationship with Liara. That means we have approximately two weeks to set-up a new Mass Effect 2 play-through where the stars will align with Liara. BioWare, you’ve won me over.

Are you happy in your Tali, Jack or Miranda relationships, Ranters? Or are you willing to spend a bit of extra cash to rekindle the love you built in the original Mass Effect? It’s those blue eyes, isn’t it?

The ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’ DLC pack for Mass Effect 2 lands on PC and Xbox 360 September 7 for 800 BioWare/Microsoft points, and PS3 owners will have to wait for the game’s release this fall.
