The delay is set to be in effect for episodes 6 to 12 of season four (which corresponds to episodes 43 to 49 overall). The studio responsible for the production of Golden Kamuy season 4, Brains Base, came to the decision after some discussions, with the anime’s Blu-Ray and DVD release schedules expected to undergo some change following subsequent discussions about the project’s future.

Chief director of this season of Golden Kamuy changed from Hitoshi Namba to Shizutaka Suguhara following the change in production houses. Nobori Takagi is in charge of the scripts; while character design is done by Takumi Yamakawa, who replaces Kenichi Ōnuki (Tokyo Revengers).

The first season of Golden Kamuy premiered in April 2018, with simulcast on Crunchyroll. Funimation was responsible for streaming the series in English, as was the case with the Crunchyroll simulcast and Funimation dub of the second season of Golden Kamuy, which premiered in October 2018.

Both Crunchyroll and Funimation were also responsible for the series’ simulcast and English dub respectively for the third season. The anime series is based on Satoru Noda’s manga, which was published in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine from 2014 to 2022.

Golden Kamuy is set in the early twentieth century, right after the Russo-Japanese war. Veteran Saichi Sugimoto, known on the battlefield as “Sugimoto the Immortal” due to his uncanny ability to survive the worst conditions and change the tides of battle for his side. After the war, Sugimoto is penniless and trying to eke out a living during the gold rush; however, when he hears about a secret treasure map leading to hidden Ainu treasure, Sugimoto sets out to brave the vicious landscape to search for it. Joined by a young Ainu girl named Asirpa, Sugimoto’s toughness is tested in a way that it has never been before.
