In less than a year, the game exceeded internal expectations by selling over 1 million copies while also recieving praise from fans and critics alike. It was popular enough to receive a next-gen port, releasing on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in May of 2021. Now, it seems Remnant: From the Ashes will be expanding its reach to the Nintendo Switch as well. Considering the maturity of the game, and its fairly small fanbase, many did not expect the port to be happening, but if a recent ESRB rating is anything to go by, Remnant: From the Ashes could be making the jump soon.

An ESRB rating is not the perfect confirmation, and usually gamers will believe a rumor only when it is officially revealed by a developer, yet an ESRB rating is a very strong indicator that the Remnant: From the Ashes Switch port is happening. As well, an ESRB rating is often an indication that a game will be arriving in players’ hands soon. A recent rating for visual-novel Digimon Survive has seen many fans speculating that a release date will be revealed for that game soon, and the ESRB rating for Arkane Studios’ Deathloop released in July of this year, in anticipation of the game’s September release.
As the Switch continues to be an extremely popular console, Nintendo have been collaborating with developers in order to port games on to the handheld console. Recently, rumours of a Persona 5 port to the Switch and PC have been swirling following a typo by Atlus. Remnant: From the Ashes’ port is not a product of a typo though, and fans could soon be taking their fight against the Root on the bus, train, or wherever they go. There’s so far been no comment on whether the Switch port of the game will allow players to co-operatively play cross-platform, or whether they’ll have to buy a new version of the game to play with friends on Switch.
With Mortal Kombat 11, DOOM, and Alan Wake Remastered having made or making their way to the Switch, Remnant: From the Ashes would add to the mature games within the console, which many fans have seen as a boon to help Nintendo shy away from its reputation of only allowing more family friendly content on its platform.
Remnant: From The Ashes is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
