McMurphy reports Johnson will begin the fall semester Monday and expects to play for the Lions. Johnson was dismissed from the Florida State football team on July 6 after video in which he allegedly struck a 21-year-old woman in a Tallahassee bar was released. Johnson pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery charges.

According to the report, Johnson has a pretrial date set for Aug. 26 in Tallahassee. East Mississippi Community College, the two-time defending National Junior College Athletic Association national champions, opens its season the following day at Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Johnson, a four-star recruit coming out of high school, was competing for the starting job at Florida State before being dismissed from the team.
