Olivera agreed to a six-year, $62.5 million contract with the Dodgers in March. The 30-year-old remains in the Dominican Republic, and will fly to Los Angeles for a physical exam once a visa is acquired. His physical will be more extensive than usual because of concerns about his right elbow. The Dodgers can add a seventh year to the deal for $1 million if the elbow requires surgery.

Cuban right-hander Pablo Millan Fernandez, who agreed to an $8 million deal with the Dodgers, is also awaiting a visa.
